PORTHMADOG 1 (R Hughes 58)

THERE were wild celebrations at Y Traeth after Porthmadog's victory over the Lilywhites kept them in the Welsh Premier League.
It was a disappointing end to the league campaign for Rhyl, but John Hulse's men had long secured third place and qualification for Europe for a fifth successive season.

RHYL KEY FIGURES IN RELEGATION ISSUE

RHYL will play a key role this Saturday in deciding which clubs are relegated from the Welsh Premier League.
The Lilywhites will send Porthmadog down if they win or draw at Y Traeth. A Porthmadog victory, however, will definitely keep them up if Caersws fail to beat Caernarfon at home.

FAREWELL TO FAW PREMIER CUP

THE Football Association of Wales confirmed officially last week the FAW Premier Cup has been axed after the end of 11 years' sponsorship by the BBC.
It brings to a close Rhyl's involvement with a competition which saw them peak in 2003/04 when they were beaten finalists against Wrexham, having lost in the semis to the Robins the season before.
In the Premier Cup semis of 2003/04 the Lilies achieved arguably their greatest win under John Hulse, a 2-0 defeat of a full-strength Swansea City at Belle Vue.

THE Lilywhites saved the best for last as they recorded a biggest home league win of the season in their final match at Belle Vue of the current campaign.
As well as slamming five goals past a woeful Port Talbot, John Hulse's men also hit the woodwork four times - and all this without four key players.
